The GP2Y0A41SK0F is a compact, high-performance distance measuring sensor unit composed of an integrated combination of PSD (position sensitive detector), IRED (infrared emitting diode), and signal processing circuit.

Unlike other sensors that rely on the intensity of reflected light, this Sharp sensor uses the triangulation method. This means its measurements are not easily influenced by the reflectivity of the object, the ambient temperature, or the operating duration. It outputs an analog voltage corresponding to the detected distance, making it incredibly easy to interface with microcontrollers like Arduino, ESP32, and Raspberry Pi.
